Head of Communications: Rollout a New Company Vision
You must communicate a bold new company vision to employees, investors, and journalists—each with unique concerns and expectations.
Rapid growth has led to operational silos, employee burnout, and public criticism, threatening Lumenix’s culture and reputation.
Your goal is to clarify the CEO’s vision, secure internal support, and craft a compelling media statement that rebuilds trust.
You are the Head of Communications at Lumenix, a Milan-based SaaS startup for SMBs.
Lumenix is a Milan-based tech startup specializing in SaaS solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. Over the past 18 months, the company has rapidly expanded its workforce and launched three major products: TaskFlow (project management), ClientConnect (CRM), and InsightEdge (analytics). While these launches boosted revenue and client sign-ups, they also exposed operational inefficiencies, increased employee turnover, and led to cultural drift. Departments now work in silos, and employees report burnout and disconnection from the company’s mission. Externally, a high-profile investor’s criticism and negative media coverage have damaged Lumenix’s reputation, leading to increased scrutiny from stakeholders. In response, the CEO has developed a new vision focused on unifying company culture, improving efficiency, and rebuilding trust through transparent communication and targeted initiatives.
As Head of Communications, your mission is to lead the rollout of Lumenix’s new company vision to three critical stakeholder groups: employees, investors, and journalists. You will begin by clarifying the vision and strategy with the CEO through a focused chat conversation, ensuring you understand objectives, success metrics, and sensitive topics. Next, you will announce the vision to a key employee via a voice call, addressing concerns and securing their support as a champion of the rollout. Finally, you will draft a single, polished media statement that articulates the new vision, acknowledges recent challenges, and outlines next steps for stakeholders. Throughout, you must balance transparency, credibility, and motivation, adapting your communication style to each audience.
To complete the simulation, you must:
- Engage in a chat with the CEO to clarify the new vision and strategy.
- Hold a voice call with a key employee to announce the vision and address concerns.
- Draft a single integrated media statement that communicates the vision, addresses challenges, and signals next steps. Once you have completed all tasks, save the required final document in a Collaborative Document and send it to the CEO for review.
